Lobby Obama to Support Eco Farming

As president-elect Barack Obama assembles his cabinet, sustainable farming activists from groups like Slow Food USA are lobbying him to select Under Secretaries for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) who are committed to renewable energy and small family farmers. They’ve created a petition that includes 12 suggested candidates for the roles (like Denise O’Brien, an organic farmer and founder of the Women, Food, and Agriculture Network [WFAN]); so far, more than 60,000 people have signed it, including eco-minded authors Michael Pollan and Anna Lappé.
